The world is still full of mysteries. There are “what ifs” and “how could” as well as “whys”. With all the questions in the world, it seems as if it would be impossible to predict the future. In Moments of Truth by Tony Wainwright and Mike Celizic, the authors explore how certain events have changed people’s lives. In Dark Secrets 1: Legacy of Lies by Elizabeth Chandler, readers are introduced to the main character Megan and learn the story behind her life as well as the lives of people around her.
Destiny like fate, can be a debatable subject. While some people believe that everything happens for a reason and that you can’t change your future, there are other who either don’t believe or believe in a slightly different variation compared to what others see as destiny and fate. Sometimes, people simply just believe in destiny and fate. On the other hand, some need to experience something they could only make sense of as destiny and fate to accept the concept.

To have a heart that burns a fire so bright
It outshines the galaxies' greatest stars
To live in awe of the simplest things
To dream of free life
With no stress
With no wars
To reach every goal, peak upon peak
In hope of one day being set free
To be free to dream whatever, whenever
To be who I want to be
Oh how I wish I could escape the wrath
Of that dark aura here on earth
To be bold,or to be shy
Simply to be
For where the pastures are greener lies my hope
Where the pastures are greener lies my destiny
Where the pastures are greener lies my fulfillment

Some will show to different religions, while others will tell you there’s the scientific laws that make things happen. There are people out there that believes that everything in your life is there because you’ve either worked for or chosen it to be there. Others again believe that everything that happens in your life is happening because of destiny. No one can say for sure which theory is more right or wrong than the other.

"Down These Mean Streets" by Piri Thomas is a book that a lot of youth can relate to. Just reading the first chapter made me think of a lot of very close friends and family members that have bee through similar situations. The oppression that I see in this book is so real. Piri makes one really connect with his childhood. Because of the time period that Piri lived in was so full of hatred toward immigrants, especially people of color, it really brings out that thought/feeling of how cruel humans can be towards one another.
I’m towards the ending of this book, Elie and his dad made so many wrong decisions they had so many opportunities to escape. I don't know why would they make such silly mistakes to stay and suffer. We learn that towards the end the Red Army comes and saves them little by little. When the Germans find out they do the impossible to escape from death because he was in a hospital where a German Jew tried saving his life but Elie was too paranoid with what he was already going through. I wouldn't believe that miracles can happen during something so horrific.
