In my last discussion about The Catcher in the Rye, I gave a short summary about what I had read so far and what the writing style was like. The book was first published in 1951, and sixty three years later, people are still writing their ideas and thoughts about the novel. Only thirty three minutes ago from when I started writing this, an article was posted on the Brook-haven Courrier that seems to go against most of what I have read about the book.
This summer i finally got my first job. I worked at Rye play land amusement park, I learned alot. The first thing i did there was make cotton candy i wasn't successful with that so i took a test to run a ride called the skyflyer. I passed the test but little did i know what i was getting myself into.. every morning & afternoon the sun beamed right on me, i was kind of upset but i got through it because i had a nice person as my partner. Her name is Elsa & she's beyond cool.
A theme in the book would be showing the snotty nature of a group of people in a place. Ackley is a person who never brushes his teeth or looks presentable. He is constantly covered in acne and his clothes are a mess. He looks like a homeless man. But he has clean fingernails. They are always trimmed to perfection, there is never any dirt under them and his hands are always washed. So that could show that first impressions are there for him to do something. The fact that his hands (look) are clean just have an persona of a fake outer layer.
I am reading The Cather in the Rye by J.D.Salinger. I have read the first few chapters of the book already and i can see its funny, yet suttle. It it like Silence of the Lambs kind of humor. So far we learn the mail character holdern has been kicked out of his fancy schmancy prep school. The people there are very snotty and uptight. His teacher is old and is really hard on him. The teacher is also right too becasue Holden just does not care at all. We also meet his room mate named Ackley. He is rude and a bad person.
