I recently finished reading a book called "The Eye of Minds." This story is about about a teenage hacker, Michael, that is thrown into a situation. Him and his two friends, Bryson and Sarah, must track down a hacker that is negatively affecting people's lives inside and outside of virtual reality.
Next, here is a response that I've written about the story. It's a three entry journal through the perspective of Michael. You don't have to read it unless you want a better understanding of the plot.
There are many risks on the Internet. Identity Theft is when someone steals your personal information like passwords to impersonate you. This can be prevented by making sure never to give out your password and to conceal your information. Black-hat hackers are also something to be aware of. They are people who find weak points in your computer and try to take advantage of you. Be careful when opening e-mails. It may lead to scams. Updating your computer or downloading any software like Windows FireWall is protect yourself from black-hat hackers.
On the web, it might look like a reliable piece of modern media and it is clean on the exterior. But in the inside, there are some or more hazards where ever you go, whether you are typing a book report or searching the online dictionary. Sometimes you can avoid risks by checking if the website is okay for any usage. If the URL starts with http:, or https:, it is clean.
I live in a world where we all depend on social media aka the internet. The internet is a very strong place to be on. Some people use the internet to make their lives a lot easier and grow. Although a lot of people have fun on the internet, I think that it is still a bad place to be on.
A lot of kids and teens have been bullied over the internet too many times and then they commit suicide. Thats what makes the internet very dangerous. People can fake their identity, cyberbully, and hack on the internet.
