Kissena Corridor Park is located on Queens, New York. The park itself is 100 acres and there are many sections like biking and a number of soccer fields, tennis courts, baseball fields event a community garden.

These are some of my writings that did I in the garden.

The fresh scent and wind make me feel like I am flying around the sky and I don't want to stop. For reason I feel calm and energized that is halt to describe.

As the wind moves and flows it brings the sense of nature, and it's fulfilling.
The rose stretching with all they have to get out, dancing gently with the wind
The dense green that it can see looks like all the green and effect of the universe was used.
The combination of plants are a handful of memories
I can see my grandmother as I was a little boy. She used to have most of the plants I can see where the people are walking around like lost souls

I contributed to the Youth Voices community by adding my own touch to the collecction of photos already online. I did this  by adding my own style. My special touch includes more subtly striking images that show more than some people might realize at first. When editing my photos I didn't really have trouble, and when writing my reflections on my images I found it easy to get what I was thinking across to my reader. I didn't realy think that I had much if any trouble when I was working on the many aspects of my projects. I wish that I could share my images in a way that more people would be able to understan the picture and the point that I was trying to get across better. However, I wouldn't want to have made it all too obvious to everyone. Overall, I think that I have done pretty well this year in developing my pictures into something that I hadn't imagined before.

See my photo stream at my Flickr page!

The Kissena Corridor Park is right across the street from my school. It is a huge park.   It has a community garden, which people in the neighborhood call the Korean Community Garden. It has a baseball field, handball field, track field on one part of it. The other the parts have some swings. There's a playground. Many people come to this park to exercise, play, or work on the garden.

For a month we have been working on the community garden. We choose a plot and write about it. The garden is big, you can find many different plants, vegetables, fruits, and even flowers.

Over the year I have taken hundreds of photos.  I think that my photos have greatly improved over the year, but I think my best one came off luck.  I was riding in the car and was taking pictures of things that looked interesting.  It turned out that as I took a photo of two trees, I didn't realize how good the picture would come out.  The tree on the right is very unique as it splits and makes the shape of a Y.  I think that the sunset makes the lighting perfect for that photo.  I also like how in black there are the buildings and the other road, even though it looks like a bridge.  When all those characteristics are put together, I think it makes a really good photo.

I took this photo during the beginning of the year on one of our photo walks. To be honest I just took this photo randomly and it happened to turn out well. Why I believe that it's my best photo is because it has the most views on my flickr account and also I just really like it. I like how the sun is peering through the branches and showing of the fall leave colors.

I;m learning more about the gulf of mexico oil spill and in particular im wondering about is how many animals were affected. i was researching this question and this artical caught my attention because it was very descriptive of what happened during this

I'm learning more about the Gulf of Mexico oil spill right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is: What happened to all the birds in the Gulf of Mexico. I was researching this question online, and this news item caught my attention because... I chose this item to read because my English teacher introduced it to me. It's called "Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill (2010)". This article was really interesting. It was really tragic that many of the marine creatures and the birds are suffering in this disaster. There was this one part that had sparked up my interest:

"Birds: 820 have been collected, with 298 of these visibly oiled. 597 birds were dead; 223 were captured alive. 28 have been released.
Sea Turtles: 289 have been collected; 243 were dead; 46 were alive.
Mammals, Including Dolphins: 33 have been collected in the spill zone; 31 of those were dead. Determination whether oil was the cause of death is pending for 30 dolphins"

www.nytimes.com/2010/06/05/us/05pelican.html

In this recent oil spill, not only did the oil spread to a large area. It had also covered the birds who swim this

gulf in oil. In the picture on the link above is a pelecan that had been a victum of the oil spill. It is getting treated

and soo are other expected birds.

Suprisingly many pelecans had gotten involved in the oil spill. This spilling of 600 oil barrels has left many

pelecans dead and very few alive. More than 612 birds were damaged. The bird's habitat has been ruined by all of this.

I'm learning more about helping people right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is "Is the president doing anything to help solve the problem?" I was researchingthis question online and this news item caught my attention because It seem like it had a lot of information about the oil spill. Also because it's showing what president Obama thinks about whats going on.

"Now I don’t have a problem with BP fulfilling its legal obligations, but I want BP to be very clear they’ve got moral and legal obligations here in the Gulf for the damage that has been done. And what I don’t want to hear is, when they’re spending that kind of money on their shareholders, and spending that kind of money on TV advertising, that they’re nickel-and-diming fisherman or small businesses here in the Gulf who are having a hard time.”

The quote I chose here is basecally saying that the people from th Bp are using the dissaters as a way to advertise them selfs. They should be thinking on how to solve the problem nt trying to gain money becuase even if money is gain none is really spend on helpind the ocean.

I am learn more about animal habitatin the oil spill right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is: What happen to animal habitat in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill? I was researching this question online, and this news item caught my attention because... It give good detail about how this oil spill is dangering them, and type of animal are in danger.

"Efforts are under way to keep the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico from reaching birds, mammals and critical shoreline habitats, but some marine biologists worry about the effects of the oil slick and the use of chemical dispersant on life underwater."from: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2010/04/28/us/20100428-spill-map.html

The quote I choose here is basically saying that people caring about the animal habitat, or stoping the oil to get to them, but they are using other chemical to clean up.

I am learning more about the oil spill and in particular what I'm wondering about is why didn't any rules or regulation to stop this. Why didn' the  EPA complain like they usually do, did they get paid, off shore drilling has a tremendous effect on the environment.  BP is so getting killed.

"The gulf’s deeper water harbors 10 species of threatened sharks, 6 species of endangered turtles, manatees, whales and innumerable fish.

I'm learning more about the Gulf of Mexico OIl Spill right ow, and in particular what I'm wondering about is how long will it take to stop the flow of the oil to other places. I was researching this question online, and this news item caught my attention because it said that the oil spill might not be cleaned up until fall. This sparked my interest since it can seriously affect many people and manhy jobs around the U.S. coast.

"Adm. Thad W. Allen, the Coast Guard commander, said on “Face the Nation” on CBS that BP officials were working to secure the cap over the wellhead and to gradually increase the amount of oil recovered. But he said the only solution to the problem would be the successful completion of relief wells to finally stop the flow from the bottom of the 18,000-foot-deep well, a job that will not be completed until August at the earliest."

The quote here I chose is basically saying that it will take as long asthe end of summer to fully clean up everything. It would take this long since the well is so deep down and so much oil is flowing out each day.

I think these are my best two photos. The first one I think looks so good cause it really stands out because of the dark background, and how bright the flower is. Then my second photo of the plant is really good because of how the shading makes the plant stand out. Both of these pictures I took in my bachyard and I think they are my best and favorite pictures I have taken so far.

In my plot there are purple flowers. There so many beautiful flowers there are huge rocks on the floor. there's a green bucket on the ground. (It looks like a bucket to me) they're green plants on the ground. it seems like they have been growing kind of quickly. there are bricks on the floor. There's like four or more bricks on the floor. There's so many yellow flowers they look like daises. there kind of long. for me the purple flowers were prettier than the yellow flowers. they looked more alive. :) i would rather want the purple flowers. the weather that day was really good. it was hot and very sunny that day. like it seemed like i was getting a tan.

I'm learning more about the Gulf Oil Spill right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is: The effects on wildlife. I was researching this question online, and this news item caught my attention because it  showed the types of wildlife. It showed the types of wildlife and how they are affected.

"Chemicals are being sprayed onto the slick by aircraft to speed up the natural dispersion of oil. Dispersed oil is spread by waves and wind in surface waters, where many marine animals live."

The quote I chose here is basically saying that chemicals are being spread across the water to where the marine animals live.  While they are placed to disperse the oil, it is still harmful to the marine life. The ecosystem will be destroyed, and will mess up the food chain.

I think this is an horrific event, because many animals are dying, and it is a huge loss of oil, worth billions of dollars.

I'm learning more about the oil spill right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is: How is the wildlife is being affected by oil spill? I was researching this question onine, and this news item caught my attention because it showed how each animal is being affected. When I read the title I saw that it was exactly what I was looking for.

Brown pelicans and other seabirds often dive into the oil because the slick makes the water look calmer. If they are coated in oil, they will be unable to regulate their temperatures, leading to hyperthermia.

The quote I chose here is basically saying that even brown pelicans that aren't even living in the water are being affected. The oil causes them to be unable to regulate their temperatures.

As we were in class my teacher had brought up a topic that is nationaly known. People have been talking about it for a while and it never occured to me because it really didn't affect me. I never go to beaches but today I realized it affects all of us. The BP oil spil has been going on for 3 weeks now. It occured on the gulf of mexico. It has taken the lives of many sea creatures. This may be the biggest oil spill that the world has ever seen. BP should take responsibility for since it was theirs to begin with. However the world wants to stop this as soon as possible. The oil spill isn't really a apill it more  of a bursting leak. This leak is still spilling into the ocean.I have researched this online and found an interesting website, http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/subjects/o/oil_spill..., and I've found an article on the Gulf of Mexico.

I'm learning more about the Gulf Of Mexico Oil Spill right now, and in particular what i'm wondering about is : "How will this problem affect the society in the future?" I was researching this question online, and this article came up.  http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/06/us/06spill.html?scp=1&sq=wildlife%20in%20gulf%20of%20mexico&st=cse
This stood out to me because the title. It is saying how the Caps slow loss of oil, but the engineers are moving cautiously. I think this is was interesting because they probably they move slowly i guess because they think that if they don't move carefully that they could make the situation worse. Also the picture is a bit interesting because it shows these men in suits helping to clean it up a bit.

Essay:

Across the street from my school we have our community garden and playground, Kissena Corridor Park. The park is for everyone, there really is no age limit. To little kids, the park is a dream come true. A playground with monkey bars, slides, and swings. For teens there are the basketball, handball, and kickball courts. Even adults enjoy the track and workout stations. The park is even fit for the senior citizens that live near here. They like to relax on their little piece of heaven, their plot of land where they can grow anything from flowers to food. My English class has been visiting the garden for a couple of weeks now writing down a description about the plot of land that we chose.

I'm learning more about the Gulf of Mexico oil spill right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is: How are the animals being affected by the oil spill? I was researching this question online, and this article "Concerns Up and Down the Food Chain" because I thought it would tell me about the wildlife being harmed.

"But biologists are increasingly alarmed for wildlife offshore, where the damage from a spill can be invisible but still deadly. And they caution that because of the fluidity between onshore and offshore marine communities, the harm taking place deep at sea will come back to haunt the shallows, whether or not they are directly hit by the slick."

The quote I chose here is basically saying that many wildlife even offshore are being endangered. I think they're taking some actions to save the animals. This food chain affects our food and wildlife.

1. What happened in the Gulf of Mexico?

2. What is the long term impact?
"Unless the underwater spigot is shut off quickly, an unlikely prospect, the continuing flow of oil will at least create serious short-term impacts.

oil-covered-bird-2005.JPGIn September, 2005, three weeks after Hurricane Katrina, a cormorant covered in oil walks across the top of a levee in St. Bernard Parish. Oil spilled from Murphy Oil in Meraux inundated blocks of houses -- and wildlife -- with oil."We are in a breathless waiting game," said Baton Rouge-based Melanie Driscoll, director of bird conservation for the National Audubon Society. "Every oil spill is different, and so what this one will do depends on a long list of factors.

I was learning about the Gulf Oil Disaster right now, and I couldn't care less about that pile of buffalo diarrheas(literally) floating on the ocean. I was researching online for random informations about the incident, what I found was a nytimes article that pretty much explained everything happened.

Look at this: "An explosion on April 20 aboard the Deepwater Horizon, a drilling rig working on a well for the oil company BP one mile below the surface of the Gulf of Mexico, has led to the largest oil spill in the history of the United States." Woah, I can literally see poor people sitting in a boat, trying to make fries chicken in those oil-infested water. Seriously. It basically is saying that the oil-spill was the largest in the United States history, what could go wrong with that?

I think this is quite pointless, because 1: It's not my business. 2: It's not my fault that a huge pile of buffalo diarrhea got spilled in the middle of the ocean. 3: And I really can't care less about it.

This is a slideshow of a Playmobile I made and what the little charcters do when their ship crashes and gets stuck in a tree.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/42026637@N07/sets/72157624197229758/show/

As you can see from the first picture, the ship is wedged in some tree branches and the characters are forming a chain in order to save their fellow shipmates. The second picture illustrates a closer and more detailed view of the first picture in the sequence. There is a character trying to climb back onboard while another character is trying to pull up the characters who have fallen off using spears, teamwork is key. The third picture shows a few of the characters crawling along a tree branch trying to get back to the ship. Obviously it is a mass mahem when your ship gets stuck in a tree. The fourth and final picture of this sequence shows one of the characters lying on the ground in an awkward position, sword and cape lying beside him. Unfortunately for him, not all passangers of the ship were saved.

Across the street we visit out to Kissena Corridor Park or Korean Garden. In our ELA class we went out to garden. So there we wrote about the plot that we chose in the garden. We wrote about everything we saw in our plot.At first I didn't knew which plot to choose so I walked around the garden to see different plots. Then finally I chose my plot. My plot was at the direction of south west.

In my plot I see flowers and bushes. In my plot I can see flowers of purple color. I really got no idea of what is the name of the flowers. In my plot I can feel rough surface rocks. there is a flower which is long and got spikes on top of it. Unfortunately, I don't know the name . I see some different kind of bushes. There are a lot of little rocks and some bricks. There are some flowers and bushes that are still growing. Also my plot looks kind of dirty. There is a fence that shows a border or separation of 2 different plot. My boundary is made up of wood and some big rocks. There is a plant that caught my attention because it has a green stem but it got spikes on the top. There are a lot of bushes that are growing in my plot. My plot looks dirty.

This Memorial Day, I went up to Ogden Canyon with my family. I took these pictures while I was there.  The area was beautiful and I loved going on walks with my camera.  I didn't edit these in photoshop.

I think the seals should be allowed to remain at Children's Pool. They need this area for pupping season. We have taken so much habitat from the animals they deserve this spot. Children have so many different places to go have fun. This is a perfect area for the seals to have their pups and that people will leave them alone. It is also a nice treat for the people to come and watch the seals up close and in their natural habitat. This is why I think the children's pool should not be taken from them.

The children's pool was funded by Ellen Browning Scripps in the early 1900’s. She left her money to many different projects, schools, libraries, hospitals, etc. She was an extraordinary woman and many want to keep her wishes of the Children's Pool alive. Thats why there is so much controversy on who should have the pool. But over the last couple of years the seals have taken over the children's pool. Animal right actives believe the seals should stay even though the pool was intended for children.

the beach a fun place to be in the summer. Theres a lot of things you can do in the beach. You can go in the cold salty water or go for a walk along the side of the water. The beach is fun because theres a lot of stuff u can do like just chill and relax. Its really fun.

The sight i looked up was beach.com.It showed pictures of beaches all over and other stuff. It also showed were there are eally nice ones. There are some beaches that the water is clear. Its really nice when you see a sunset.

The beach is really sandy and really salty. Depending were you go the waves are smaller or bigger. Some beaches are really nice depending on all that stuff. Its a place were u can have fun or chill. Beaches are nice.

When I was in second grade, we had an end of the year party. They had a whole bunch of stuff including horse back riding. I went over I rode one and fell in love! I rode that thing literally all day and never wanted to stop. Ever since then, my favorite animal has been a horse and every chance I get to ride them, I do!

The horse has been around and been evolving for over 50 million years. If in good health, they can live 20-30 years easily. Many things can come from horses, including meat, milk, hide, hair, and bone. There are about 267 breeds of horses. That’s a lot! They can range in sizes from very big to very small. Horses are pregnant for about 11 months and when they are born, can walk almost immediately.

I think horses are very interesting and have a big part in our lives. They helped us get around before we even had cars! Horses are big friendly giants who are great pets.

Recently in my English class we have been writing a bout one plot in the Kissena Park Corridor Garden. At first I thought it was a waste of time, but then it started to grow on me. I planted a yam in our school's garden and its  just starting to grow. Even though it took a look time to plant it I still had fun in the process. When I was planting the yam, I notice that other people wanted to join in on the fun and help me out.  We all chipped in, and with a little bit of help we finished in less than an hour. So when the yams are done growing I decided to give them to my mother so we can make candy yams and serve them to my classmates.

This is us working on our garden.

On another day we planted yellow flowers. Their beauty arouses me. Although they are still growing, I hope it will last for a long time.
